" We found a good deal for Victory Hotel on wotif ($30USD for Deluxe room incl breakfast). The room was massive, with a full sitting area and a king + a single bed. Large bathtub w/shower and fairly quiet on second floor. No view to speak of and lots of construction in the area, in fact the day we arrived the mains water had been knocked out but the staff gave us a full water cooler bottle if we wanted to wash before the water came back on (about 5pm). The location is a bit out of the way but there are free bicycles to use or it's really only a 15 minute walk to the river and there are plenty of good restaurants within a 10 minute walk. You can also pick up a xe om (scooter+ driver) for cheap and they'll have you at the bridge in a jiffy! The breakfast room is on the top floor and the food is reasonable, especially if included in the room cost...otherwise it's a couple of dollars for juice, coffee and baguette. The staff are quite friendly but their english skills require some patience--in fact the language problem almost cost us a flight to Hanoi as the car we requested for 6.45 am had been booked for 7.30am. Luckily the lass on reception had a friend with a taxi who came right away and the ride cost us less than the booked car price. Advice--write things down so there is NO confusion. The staff had no problem booking a dragon boat cruise for us though, and we recommend that you take up their option ($7USD for a boat out/bus back, lunch included) if you don't mind going in a larger group-there were approx. 40 people on the cruise. Good tour. All in all, Victory Hotel is a decent place to stay and we would stay there again"
